Safety on the Golf Course

Safety on the Golf Course

Strawberry Hill Golf Course is a historic layout, designed before modern safety standards were introduced. As a result, some tees, greens, and fairways are in close proximity. We ask all players to take extra care at all times, particularly before playing a shot - always ensure it is safe to proceed.

The course is also bordered by residential properties, a martial arts centre, a children's playground, and a junior school. Please be mindful of your surroundings and avoid playing any shot that could leave the course and cause injury or damage.

General Safety Guidelines

To ensure the safety of all players and staff, please observe the following:
* Always check it is safe before playing a shot or practise swing
* Be aware of others nearby, including the risk of loose stones, twigs and debris
* Follow all on-course signage and directional routes at all times
* Do NOT walk across the 9th fairway from the car park - please use the designated route to the 1st tee
* Greenkeepers and course staff always have priority
* Play in accordance with the Rules of Golf and maintain appropriate conduct at all times

Course-Specific Hazards

Please take extra care around the following:

  • Slopes and Steps - these may become slippery, particularly in wet weather
  • Tees and bunkers - some have steep sides; always enter and exit at the lowest point
  • Water features (brook) - steep embankments require extra caution when retrieving balls
  • Ditches and uneven ground - take care when walking or playing from these areas
  • Bridges - narrow crossings; please take care with buggies and trolleys
  • Trees - balls may rebound unpredictably from wooden areas
  • Keep buggies and trolleys outside white-lined areas at all clubs

Weather Safety

Should dangerous weather conditions develop, including thunder and lightning, an audible warning will sound to indicate the course is closed. Please leave the course immediately and seek shelter.
