Visitors Information

Visitors are always welcome at our club and we hope the information below will help you enjoy your round. The course is very popular but some visitor tee times are made available on each day. To check availability and to book online, please use the Visitor Tee Time Booking facility on this website, where you will be able to pay for your booking. Please note the various terms and conditions before making your booking. We no longer take bookings over the phone or in person.

For safety reasons we operate a handicap policy. This means that all visitors require an official handicap and CDH number or equivalent to play our course.

Opening Hours:
• Pro Shop open every day, 9am to 6pm
• Bar open from 11am. Closing time depends on season
• First tee time is 8am. Last tee time depends on season.

For more information and to access the online tee booking form go to the visitor tee time booking page.

Car Parking
Parking is available at the Club. A Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) operates in Wellesley Road and in the immediate Strawberry Hill area from 10.00 to 16.30 Monday to Friday (excluding Public and Bank Holidays). Pay and Display and Ringo payment facilities are available.

Waldegrave Course
Visitors and guests may only play the Waldegrave course. If you are playing 9 holes you can choose to play from either the yellow or blue tees but not a mix of both. If you are playing 18 holes you should play the course in order - the front 9 holes off the yellow tees and the back 9 holes off the blue tees.

Note, men and women play from the same tees although the par for some holes differs.

Course Marshals/ Insurance Cover
To help all golfers to have a safe and enjoyable experience on the course, SHGC operates a system of volunteer marshals. Our marshals can be identified by their burgundy vests and blue SHGC caps and can usually be found/are available outside the Clubhouse on the veranda area or by the first tee. They also attend around the course when time allows. Please ask them if you need any information about playing the course.

All green fees should have been paid in advance online at the time of booking, but if for any reason this is not the case then please seek the marshal's advice on how to pay your green fee before commencing play. The marshals may ask your name and to see your handicap certificate and CDH number, to help us ensure all our visitors meet the competency requirement to play the course and to monitor who is on the course when. That is important for insurance purpose, both the Club’s and yours.

Although the Club does have public liability insurance cover for both third party injury and property damage which provides a basic level of coverage for visitors playing the course who have paid a green fee, all golfers are advised that the onus for personal liability is the responsibility of the individual golfer. In consequence the Club advises that all golfers should have in place their own golfing insurance coverage adequate to meet their own risk/personal insurance requirement.
